On January 2, 2024, the HACC Appeals Chamber reduced the bail for Vasyl Artymovych, the former head of the Economic Court of Lviv Region, from UAH 20 million to UAH 10 million.

Artymovych's defenders believe the risks identified by the investigating judge are unfounded. Artymovych himself literally stated, “I would not swim across the Tysa River,” and requested the court to impose home arrest or set bail at UAH 3 million.

The prosecutor highlighted that the full amount of the bribe has not yet been recovered and pointed to the defendants' secret nicknames: “Fat,” “Senior,” and “M.V.” The prosecutor also alleged that the judge resides in a house not registered in his name and uses property owned by his wife, suggesting potential attempts to conceal his assets.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO suspect Vasyl Artymovych and Mykhailo Yurkevych, former heads of the Economic Court of Lviv Region, of soliciting a $1 million bribe. Today, the HACC also reviewed a request to change Yurkevych's bail but decided to leave it unchanged — he will remain in custody with the option to pay a UAH 12 million bail.
