Former MP Kormyshkina pleaded guilty, reaching a plea agreement with the SAPO prosecutor
On March 14, 2025, the first court hearing took place in the case of ex-MP Iryna Kormyshkina and her husband, Yurii Kormyshkin. The defense requested a closed session, and the court partially granted the motion—if personal data is disclosed during the hearing, it will be held behind closed doors.
In February of this year, the SAPO prosecutor submitted an indictment to the court along with plea agreements for Kormyshkina and her husband. According to the prosecutor, the defense initiated the agreements during the pre-trial investigation.
Today, during a preparatory hearing, the prosecutor announced the conditions of the agreement for Iryna Kormyshkina:
-
sincere remorse;
-
transfer of UAH 20 million to the state budget;
-
donation of UAH 1 million to the Armed Forces of Ukraine within five months;
-
“exposing each other”;
-
public interest: saving the resources of the court and law enforcement agencies;
-
deprivation of the right to hold positions in public authorities for 2 years.
Iryna and Yurii Kormyshkin pleaded guilty. Among other requests, the ex-MP's husband asked for permission to travel abroad for medical treatment. According to him, he works in the agricultural business and suffered a spinal fracture after being blown up by an anti-tank mine. Therefore, Kormyshkin claims he needs to undergo treatment abroad. The decision on this trip depends on the prosecutor.
The judge also inquired about the absence of guarantors at the hearing, specifically Davyd Arakhamia and Vitalii Kim. The defense argued that calling the guarantors was unnecessary, but the judge disagreed.
The hearing has been postponed. At the next hearing, they will also consider Yurii Kormyshkin's plea agreement. After that, the court must approve these agreements.
Iryna Kormyshkina is accused of illegal enrichment and falsifying her declaration, while Yurii Kormyshkin is accused of laundering criminally obtained property and falsifying his declaration. According to the prosecution, Kormyshkina attempted to disguise illegally acquired assets as a gift from her father to make them appear legitimate. Specifically, she submitted declarations and notifications of significant changes in her property status for this purpose.
The former MP later lent these assets to her husband, Yurii, who used them to buy a house. In their 2023 declaration, neither Kormyshkina nor her husband disclosed the house and two land plots they were using.
