Today, the HACC heard the last word of defendant Dina Pimakhova. According to the investigation, she took a bribe to arrange a residence permit and Ukrainian citizenship for a foreign national.
The defendant said she does not fully admit her guilt. Pimakhova also spoke about her work at the State Migration Service, stressing that she had acted strictly within her official powers. She further described a search that officers of the National Police’s Internal Security Department had recently carried out at her home in connection with her husband’s job at a sports school.
According to Pimakhova, the officers who conducted the search said they were aware of her case at the HACC. The defendant claimed they already knew in advance what sentence would be handed down and that “it will all turn out badly.”
She also addressed the conduct of the agent engaged by NABU, alleging that he had incited her to take a bribe and that she herself had committed no crime. She said she had realized he was an agent and turned to investigators to take action against him.
The court has now retired to the deliberation room to reach its verdict.
