NABU and SAPO have notified an MP of suspicion in organizing a scheme to supply Ukrzaliznytsia with cable and wire products at inflated prices.
According to UP's sources within law enforcement agencies, the MP in question is Viktor Bondar.
According to NABU, the suspect, along with an accomplice entrepreneur, devised a scheme to supply Ukrzaliznytsia with products at inflated prices. To execute this scheme, they colluded with members of an organized group that operated as a “back office” for the company, informally controlling its activities. For a percentage of the procurement amount, this group could secure contract awards for the “right” companies in Ukrzaliznytsia's tenders.
During 2021–2022, Ukrzaliznytsia signed contracts with companies controlled by the entrepreneur, which supplied products at prices above market rates.
As a result, Ukrzaliznytsia incurred losses amounting to more than UAH 140 million.
According to the investigation, seven additional individuals are suspected in the second episode of this case, including the former head of an SSU department and a former freelance adviser to the Presidential Office, Artem Shylo. They are accused of embezzling UAH 94.8 million from Ukrzaliznytsia during the procurement of power transformers.
