On January 30, 2026, an HACC investigating judge imposed interim measures on former Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko and another suspect in the same case.
Deineko was released on bail of UAH 10 million, while another figure in the case—a former head of a department at an SBGS border crossing point—was released on bail of UAH 2 million.
In addition, both suspects were placed under procedural obligations:
- appear upon request of the investigator, prosecutor, and the court;
- not leave the territory of Ukraine without permission from the investigator, prosecutor, or the court;
- inform the investigator, prosecutor, and the court of any change in place of residence and employment;
- refrain from communicating with witnesses and other figures in the case about the circumstances described in the suspicion notice;
- surrender their international passports for safekeeping.
The former head of the SBGS, a former head of a department at a border crossing point, and another former SBGS official are suspected of systematically receiving bribes in exchange for facilitating unhindered crossings of the state border. According to the investigation, in 2023 they helped dozens of relatives of Ukrainian diplomats, who held diplomatic passports, leave Ukraine unlawfully and likely received EUR 204,000 in unlawful benefits in return.
