On April 27, 2026, the NABU and the SAPO exposed the head of the investigative unit of the SSU Directorate in Poltava Region, his subordinate, and a lawyer for accepting an unlawful benefit.

According to the investigation, the officers used the lawyer as an intermediary to extort a $110,000 bribe from a businessman, in exchange for securing a plea agreement on charges under Article 111-1(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — conducting business activities in cooperation with the aggressor state, specifically the supply of equipment to Russia through shell companies in Kazakhstan.

All three were detained in the act while receiving the second tranche of $55,000.

Priority investigative actions are ongoing.
