Today, HACC investigating judges extended the detention of three suspects in Operation Carthage by another 60 days.

The court did, however, lower the bail set as an alternative preventive measure:

  • Serhii Kropyva (“the Chancellor”), the alleged organizer of the criminal scheme: UAH 93.1 million (down from UAH 120 million);
  • Oleksandr Dydych, a lawyer: UAH 11.7 million (down from UAH 15 million);
  • another suspect, not named: UAH 15 million.

The NABU and the SAPO suspect Serhii Kropyva, the head of a unit at the Prosecutor General’s Office, and his accomplices of setting up a criminal organization that arranged for bribes to be collected from fraudulent call centers and legalized over UAH 89.9 million in illicit funds.

As the HACC press office earlier told Transparency International Ukraine, the suspects remain in custody. If bail is posted, they will be subject to certain obligations: to appear when summoned, report any change of residence or employment, refrain from contacting persons specified by the investigation, surrender their passports for foreign travel, and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.
