On October 7, 2026, NABU and SAPO sent to court the case against sitting Ukrainian MP Anna Skorokhod and her aide, Serhii Kapatsyn.
According to the investigation, they incited an entrepreneur to pay a $250,000 bribe for the purported imposition of National Security and Defense Council sanctions on a rival company. MP Anna Skorokhod acted as the “guarantor” that such a decision would be adopted.
When the businessman handed over part of the sum, $125,000, he was assured that NSDC officials would receive the money. But the funds were never passed on to NSDC members or any other officials. As the NABU and SAPO note, the perpetrators never found anyone willing to commit the illegal acts.
The actions of Skorokhod and Kapatsyn were classified under Article 27(4) and Article 369(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Their accomplice, Andrii Stavenko, was also a suspect in the case, but in July 2026 the HACC approved a plea agreement with him. The court sentenced him to five years in prison but released him from serving the sentence on probation. Stavenko also transferred UAH 700,000 to the United24 fund to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In December 2025, Skorokhod and her accomplices were served with notices of suspicion. In June 2026, the investigation in the case was completed. In August 2026, the HACC set a deadline of October for reviewing the case materials. A preparatory hearing in the case is now to be scheduled.
