Today the HACC continues setting preventive measures for those charged in Operation “Carthage.” The investigating judge is considering the motion on a preventive measure for Yelyzaveta Ivakhnenko — the Muse.

The SAPO prosecutor briefly laid out the substance of the suspicion against Ivakhnenko. He noted that the Muse is suspected of legalizing criminally obtained funds. By the evidence investigators have, she helped Kropyva “wash” illegal money. The two discussed splitting money among fictitious individual entrepreneurs — Yelyzaveta Ivakhnenko's mother was one of them — buying real estate in Odesa and the Carpathians, and paying for expensive gifts for the Muse.

The prosecutor also noted that Ivakhnenko had intended to become a deputy minister of education but dropped the idea because of her business activity, which the investigation says bore signs of being fictitious. She feared that the illegality of her income would be proven.

The recordings further capture Kropyva and Ivakhnenko worrying about their fate after NABU's investigative actions in the separate case exposing prosecutors over apartment purchases in the Carpathians. The prosecutor observed that Ivakhnenko understood the funds she and Kropyva were trying to legalize were illegal. On top of that, despite all of it, Ivakhnenko sought a government post and discussed it with Kropyva.
