On November 20, 2024, the HACC decided to compel witness Valerii Hodunok to attend the hearing and imposed a fine of UAH 6,056 on him.
Hodunok was the first deputy director of the separated division Atomkomplekt and was responsible for the technical part of the work with the Czech company Skoda JS. He was already served with a summons to appear in court, but he failed to do so.
In general, this case regarding Martynenko has been at the stage of witness questioning since the summer of this year. However, hearings are constantly postponed due to witnesses’ non-appearance. The next hearing is scheduled for November 29.
According to the investigation, in 2009-2012, Martynenko, together with members of the group organized by him, increased the prices of tender bids for the purchase of equipment for Ukrainian nuclear power plants from the Czech company Skoda JS. As a result, Energoatom overpaid EUR 6.4 million to this company. The amount was then transferred to Swiss accounts of a Panamanian firm controlled by Martynenko and laundered under the guise of payment for services.
The HACC has been hearing this case since 2019, but the proceedings are progressing very slowly, including due to delays on the part of the defendants.
