On April 9, 2026, the HACC upheld the prosecution's position and filed a request for the extradition of Oleksandr Dubilet. The court is also awaiting a conclusion from the migration authority regarding his citizenship status. The ruling was not unanimous: one panel member issued a dissenting opinion, arguing that extradition proceedings are not appropriate at this stage.
Dubilet himself attends hearings remotely. Today he stated (in Russian) that the prosecutor had “confused the court with a circus show,” and that such “tricks” were on the prosecutor's conscience.
According to the latest information, Dubilet is in Israel. The HACC previously arrested him in absentia and moved to try him under the in absentia procedure. That said, today's ruling is only the first step toward his actual return to Ukraine.
The trial continues. One of the defense lawyers asked the prosecutor whether he intends to consolidate this case with the proceedings against businessman Ihor Kolomoiskyi. The prosecutor said the two cases are unrelated. The defense, however, announced it would file a motion to that effect regardless.
Former PrivatBank board chair Oleksandr Dubilet and other senior managers are charged with embezzling UAH 8.4 billion from the bank. The case involves three episodes related to the withdrawal of assets from the bank in the run-up to its nationalization in December 2016.
