The HACC held its first preparatory hearing today, September 10, 2026, in the case of Illia Vitiuk, former head of the SSU Cybersecurity Department. Vitiuk himself is away on a work trip abroad and joined the hearing online.

At the start, his lawyer moved to adjourn, since the defense had asked the HACC Appeals Chamber to rule on whether the case should be heard by a different court. The prosecution objected, with the prosecutor arguing that today's hearing could proceed in full.

Judge Yevhen Didenko granted the motion in part and gave the floor to the prosecution. In his remarks, the prosecutor said there were no grounds to close the criminal proceedings, and none to send the indictment back either.

The hearing was adjourned until September 18.

Vitiuk is charged with illicit enrichment and filing a false declaration. Investigators say that in December 2023 he bought a luxury apartment in Kyiv's Pecherskyi district worth UAH 21.6 million, but registered it to his wife at an understated contract price of UAH 12.8 million.
