The case concerns Roman Pronskikh, who took part in schemes run by oligarch Serhii Kurchenko, the owner of Real Bank.
According to the investigation, a criminal organization created by Viktor Yanukovych, with the participation of Serhii Kurchenko and officials of the NBU and banking institutions, seized state funds. In particular, those involved misappropriated funds the NBU had allocated as a stabilization loan to Kurchenko-controlled Real Bank.
In 2012, Roman Pronskikh was brought in to cover the scheme: for a fee, he registered the fictitious company Aristokrat Tim LLC in his own name. The scheme’s participants used this company to embezzle the funds, causing the National Bank UAH 787.4 million in losses.
Pronskikh’s actions were classified under Article 255(1), Articles 28(4) and 191(5), and Articles 28(4) and 366(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court sentenced him to 8 years in prison and barred him for 3 years from holding positions involving organizational and managerial or administrative and economic duties at enterprises, institutions, and organizations of any form of ownership. The court also confiscated all property owned by Pronskikh and fined him UAH 12,000.
Separately, the HACC partially granted the NBU’s civil claim and ordered Pronskikh to pay more than UAH 503.8 million in compensation for the damage caused.
As previously reported, the special court proceedings procedure (in absentia) was applied to Pronskikh.
This is not the first verdict against individuals linked to the Real Bank case. Back in 2023, the HACC convicted the bank’s then chairman of the board, Volodymyr Ahafonov. On December 25, 2023, the HACC sentenced him in absentia to 11 years in prison.
