The HACC has imposed a bail of UAH 30 million on Andrii Shypko, former director of the National Cancer Institute, who is suspected of embezzlement during his tenure. He must pay the amount within five days.

In addition to posting bail, Shypko is required to appear upon the request of the prosecutor or court, not leave Kyiv or Kyiv Region without permission, report any change of residence or employment, refrain from communicating with other suspects in the case, surrender his international passports for safekeeping, and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.

Prosecutors had requested bail in the amount of UAH 183 million.

Shypko is currently a member of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council. He served as acting director of the National Cancer Institute in 2021–2022. According to investigators, Shypko, together with businessman Herman Fistal, orchestrated a scheme that ensured companies under their control won procurement contracts for medical equipment for the Cancer Institute. They allegedly secured full control over the procurement process, including by rejecting all competing bids. The value of the procured equipment was significantly inflated, sometimes by as much as 50% over the original price. According to investigators, the scheme allowed its participants to misappropriate more than UAH 231 million in 2021–2022.
