On February 21, 2025, the HACC began considering the merits of the case involving the Dubnevych brothers' CHPP and five former heads of energy enterprises. The preparatory hearing for this case lasted from January 2023 to January 2025. The trial was conducted by a single judge.
MP Yaroslav Dubnevych has not yet been named a defendant in the case. He was notified of suspicion in October 2023. The HACC issued an in absentia arrest warrant for him, and he is currently on the international wanted list. In August 2024, NABU announced the completion of the pre-trial investigation against Dubnevych.
At today's hearing, the prosecutor presented a summary of the indictment against the other defendants in the case. Also, the representative of Naftogaz filed two lawsuits, demanding the accused be held jointly and severally liable for UAH 1.4 billion in losses caused to the company.
At the next hearing, scheduled for March 13, the court will explain the essence of the charge, after which the parties will deliver their opening speeches.
According to the investigation, the owners of the Novoiavorivsk and Novyi Rozdil thermal plants, owned by the Dubnevych brothers, purchased gas from Naftogaz at lower prices intended for the population, but sold the generated electricity to another enterprise at market prices.
