On May 26, 2025, the HACC imposed an interim measure on Iryna Malekh, a judge of the Western Economic Court of Appeal, in the form of UAH 3 million bail. Malekh is suspected of accepting a bribe in collusion with other judges — former chairman of the same court Borys Plotnytskyi, as well as former heads of the Economic Court of Lviv Region Vasyl Artymovych and Mykhailo Yurkevych.

The court also imposed additional procedural obligations on Malekh, including wearing an electronic monitoring device.

The prosecutor requested bail in the amount of UAH 15.14 million, arguing that the High Council of Justice had previously denied consent for Malekh’s detention. However, the defense stated that such an amount was excessive and requested that a personal recognizance be applied instead.

On May 22, the HCJ suspended Malekh from the administration of justice until June 9, 2025, but did not grant consent for her detention.

According to investigators, the defendants promised to deliver “desired” court decisions in cases under consideration in the Western Economic Court of Appeal. This matter is related to a conflict between the co-founders of the private medical laboratory Aesculab.
