On July 13, 2026, the HACC found fugitive former MP Andrii Derkach guilty of treason and illicit enrichment. He was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment and the full confiscation of all property belonging to him. Derkach was also barred from holding positions in state authorities and local self-government bodies for three years.

Court debates ran from June 9 to June 23. The prosecutor argued that Derkach's guilt was fully proven by witness testimony, evidence, and expert examinations. According to investigators, in 2019–2020 he regularly met in Moscow with representatives of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and subsequently held press conferences aimed at discrediting Ukraine. Expert examinations confirmed both discussions of a bribe to fund this activity and its subversive nature.

The defense disputed the prosecutor's position, arguing that part of the prosecution's evidence was inadmissible and that violations occurred during the pretrial investigation. In the defense's view, Derkach's actions fell within the scope of his authority as an MP, and his cooperation with representatives of the Russian GRU's Main Directorate was unproven. The defense asked the court to acquit him of both treason and illicit enrichment.

Investigators allege that between 2019 and 2022, Derkach received at least $567,000 from Russian intelligence services and used the funds for information attacks against Ukraine, including efforts to derail EU integration and damage relations with Western partners. The HACC has been hearing the case since December 2023.
