HACC Again Refuses to Arrest Lohvynskyi in Absentia

In the case of the Golden Mandarin, HACC Judge Larysa Zadorozhna rejected the NABU's motion for the arrest of ex-MP Heorhii Lohvynskyi in absentia.

Detailed reasons for refusing to grant the request have not yet been made public; the judge only shared a brief statement regarding the ruling.

The issue of Lohvynskyi's arrest in absentia has been under consideration for more than 18 months. Previously, Judge Voronko rejected this motion due to a lack of confirmation regarding the suspect's presence on the international wanted list. The HACC Appeals Chamber subsequently overturned this decision and sent the case back for a new hearing.

This decision of the HACC can be appealed to its Appeals Chamber.

It is important to note that Lohvynskyi is suspected of orchestrating a scheme in which the Golden Mandarin company, under his control, received UAH 54 million from the state budget by filing a claim with the ECHR. According to the prosecution, Lohvynskyi and other defendants deliberately misled the court.
