The HACC account received the required UAH 18 million bail for former Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Andrii Smyrnov, who was taken into custody in the courtroom on May 5. The information was reported by journalist Oleh Novikov.
A year ago, in the illegal enrichment case, a HACC investigating judge imposed a bail of UAH 10 million on Smyrnov, which he paid at the time. However, following new suspicions, his interim measure was changed to detention and the bail amount increased to UAH 18 million. As a result, an additional UAH 8 million had to be posted for his release from the pre-trial detention facility.
Upon his release from custody, he will be required to appear upon request of the court or investigators, report any change of residence or employment, refrain from communicating with other defendants in the case, and surrender his international travel passports.
The NABU and SAPO believe that Smyrnov possessed an unjustified fortune in cash, including UAH 6.5 million, which he allegedly attempted to legalize through the construction of over 300 square meters of residential property. He is also suspected of agreeing to accept a $100,000 bribe from the entrepreneur who carried out the construction, in exchange for assistance in securing a tender.
