Today, the HACC Appeals Chamber was scheduled to hear the defense's appeal on behalf of Serhii Kutsyi, or “Comrade,” the personal driver of Kropyva and one of the suspects in the Carthage Operation.

Neither the defense nor the suspect himself appeared at the hearing.

At the hearing, it emerged that bail for Kutsyi had been posted in full, in the amount of UAH 3 million. The final portion of the bail was deposited on September 15.

On September 17, Kutsyi's defense filed a withdrawal of the appeal with the HACC Appeals Chamber. The withdrawal included a written statement from Kutsyi asking the court to drop the appellate review of his preventive measure.

After deliberating, the court accepted the withdrawal and closed the proceedings on the defense's appeal.

The NABU and the SAPO suspect Serhii Kropyva, the head of one of the units at the Prosecutor General's Office, and his accomplices, including driver Serhii Kutsyi, of creating a criminal organization that ensured the systematic receipt of bribes from fraudulent call centers and legalized over UAH 89.9 million in criminal proceeds.
