The HACC found Oleksii Biliashevych guilty of facilitating a $2,500 bribe to the head of a district court in Dnipropetrovsk region.
In May 2023, police stopped a vehicle transporting 15 cubic meters of timber on a road between the villages of Borodaivka and Pravoberezhne in the Kamianske district, Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the inspection, the vehicle and the timber were seized, and the incident was registered in the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Article 246(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A ruling by the investigative judge of the Verkhniodniprovskyi District Court imposed an arrest on the vehicle and the timber.

According to the investigation, Biliashevych was aware of the seizure, as he maintained friendly relations with Judge Serhii Burkhan. Coincidentally, he also knew the timber owner and his business partner, and decided to arrange the transfer of a bribe to the judge in exchange for lifting the seizure. He called the parties involved and offered to resolve the issue for a bribe. During a personal meeting, he reiterated the proposal, emphasizing that he was the only one who had a trusted relationship with the judge.
In February 2024, police stopped a Renault with a trailer, again transporting timber belonging to the same owner — the second such incident. Biliashevych proposed a bribe of $1,500–2,000 to have the seizure lifted from both vehicles and the timber. He also instructed the parties to submit a motion to the court as a formal basis for canceling the seizure.
He coordinated the plan with Judge Burkhan: Biliashevych would receive the money and pass it to the judge, who would then issue the relevant rulings. The final amount of the bribe was $2,500 — which was indeed transferred. Law enforcement caught the participants in the act.
The HACC approved a plea agreement and found Biliashevych guilty under Article 368(3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment, but was released from serving the sentence with a two-year probationary period. As part of the agreement, he must transfer UAH 150,000 to UNITED24 in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and UAH 60,000, which had been posted as bail.
