On March 31, the HACC Appeals Chamber heard appeals filed by both the defense and the prosecution against a ruling by the investigating judge on the extension of an interim measure for Ihor Myroniuk, known by the alias "Rocket," a suspect in the Energoatom case.

The investigating judge had previously extended his pre-trial detention, setting an alternative in the form of bail of 100 million hryvnias.

Following its review, the panel of judges of the HACC Appeals Chamber denied the defense's appeal while granting the prosecutor's, and increased the bail amount to 126 million hryvnias. The remainder of the ruling was left unchanged.

As of now, the bail has not been posted and the suspect remains in custody.

The NABU and the SAPO uncovered the activities of a criminal organization whose members included current and former officials, including those from the energy sector. According to the prosecution, its participants had constructed a large-scale corruption scheme to exert influence over the operations of strategic state-sector enterprises — in particular, Energoatom — through which they obtained unlawful benefits and laundered funds.
