Nasírov Appellate Review: Final Statements Delivered

On April 2, 2026, former SFS head Roman Nasírov and former SFS department chief Volodymyr Novikov completed their closing statements in the appellate review of their convictions in the Onyshchenko gas scheme case.

Novikov asked the court to amend the wording of the acquittal ruling against him. Nasírov argued there was no evidence supporting the charges, declaring that “the only truth in this case is his innocence.”

The court has retired to deliberate.

Nasírov was charged with unlawfully granting installment repayment of tax debt and subsoil use fees to companies linked to Onyshchenko, causing approximately UAH 2 billion in state losses. The HACC found him guilty and sentenced him to six years in prison.
