The HACC changed the interim measure for former head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov to detention, with an alternative bail set at UAH 40 million, thus partially granting the prosecutor’s motion.
Today, the hearing continued to consider the SAPO prosecutor’s motion to change the interim measure for former head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov. The motion was initially considered last week but was postponed to allow for the questioning of witnesses who could clarify the circumstances of Nasirov’s mobilization. During the hearing, military witnesses were questioned and described the circumstances and procedure of his mobilization. Their testimony aligned with the information Nasirov had previously shared during his statement.
The prosecutor requested that the accused be taken into custody and that the bail be increased from nearly UAH 27 million to UAH 75 million. In the case of bail, the prosecutor asked the court to oblige the defendant to surrender his passport for international travel and wear an electronic bracelet.
During his speech, Nasirov claimed that the prosecutor's motion violated his constitutional duty to defend the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. His defense team assured the court that the prosecution was trying to manipulate the facts.
The HACC imposed an interim measure in the form of 60 days’ detention, with an alternative of bail. If bail is posted, Nasirov must wear an electronic bracelet and comply with other duties assigned to him.
Roman Nasirov, former head of the State Fiscal Service, is accused of involvement in Onyshchenko's “gas case”, in which he and an accomplice issued an illegal order to pay monetary obligations in installments for the use of mineral resources for mining and evaded paying tax debt in installments. The state is likely to have suffered losses of about UAH 2 billion.
