The hearing on the motion for a preventive measure for Maksym Mykytas continued today, with statements from the defense and from Mykytas himself.

The defense maintains that the measure proposed by the prosecution is far too steep. The lawyer listed all the preventive measures in force across the various cases in which Mykytas is charged, noting that his client has not breached a single obligation under any of them and will continue to conduct himself properly.

The defense also submitted documents it says refute the allegation that the companies were seized. The lawyer further argued that the prosecutor had miscalculated Mykytas's income in setting the bail amount, contending that claims about the ex-MP's substantial wealth are false and that his client does not have UAH 200 million to post.

The defense therefore asked the court to deny the prosecutor's motion.

Mykytas himself stated that he has always met every obligation imposed on him, has never missed a court hearing, and has had no intention of obstructing the investigation or the court in any way, nor any intention of fleeing.

He said that he and Ukrbud have suffered from raider takeovers and the actions of criminal organizations, yet no investigative body pays this any heed; he stressed that Ukrbud has been recognized as an injured party through the courts.

Mykytas also remarked that UAH 200 million bail is entirely beyond his means, asking the investigating judge to set a “moderate bail” or house arrest as a preventive measure instead.

The court has now retired to the deliberation room to reach its decision.
