MP Kuzminykh Detained on Return from Spain for New Preventive Measure Hearing

On June 29, 2026, NABU detectives detained MP Serhii Kuzminykh, charged with trading in influence, in execution of a HACC ruling. The SAPO prosecutor has filed a motion to replace the existing preventive measure with pre-trial detention, with no bail alternative.

His case has been before HACC since 2022 and is currently at the witness examination stage. Despite this, Kuzminykh has repeatedly breached his procedural obligations and missed hearings — including on October 29, 2025, and March 30, June 1, and June 22, 2026. The court has fined him multiple times for non-appearance.

The most recent absence was due to his trip to Spain.

This pattern of evasion, including self-initiated official trips, may indicate deliberate attempts to delay proceedings until the statute of limitations expires in January 2027.

The detention is the prosecution's response to Kuzminykh's systematic failure to appear at HACC hearings.

Serhii Kuzminykh is charged with trading in influence during the procurement of medical equipment for hospitals in Zhytomyr Region. He allegedly received a UAH 558,000 bribe from a representative of a private company in exchange for securing a tender win for ultrasound systems.
