On April 17, 2025, a regular session was held regarding the participation of former State Fiscal Service head Roman Nasirov in Onyshchenko's “gas case.” As before, the prosecutor requested a change in the interim measure to detention and an increase in bail from nearly UAH 27 million to UAH 75 million. In the case of bail, the prosecutor asked the court to oblige Nasirov to surrender his passport for international travel and wear an electronic bracelet.
The prosecutor described Nasirov's attempt to mobilize into the Armed Forces of Ukraine as an effort to evade the verdict in the case. She read out the explanations of several individuals, including the commander of the military unit to which Nasirov was mobilized on April 7. According to the commander, when Nasirov learned that this unit was in the combat zone, he stated that he would contact the Ministry of Defense and try to join another brigade. Ultimately, he was accepted into the unit where he was supposed to ensure logistical support while staying in Kyiv. Also, as a father of three, he is allowed to cross the border. The prosecutor reminded this, adding that Nasirov holds British citizenship and has also applied for repatriation to Israel. His children are abroad.
Nasirov's defense attorney argued that his failure to attend the hearing does not constitute grounds for changing the interim measure. According to the defense, Nasirov's intention to mobilize should not be considered a factor in the criminal proceedings, but rather a result of the war, as he was allegedly called up as a regular sapper in a real military unit. The defense is expecting an acquittal in this case, not an expiration date.
Another defense attorney noted that Nasirov would not have personally attended the hearings due to mobilization, but could have joined remotely. However, they filed a motion to suspend the case solely because the law allegedly requires it.
The next session is scheduled for April 24. The panel of judges decided to call witnesses who provided explanations in response to the prosecutor's request regarding Nasirov's mobilization.
