Misappropriation of Harvest Worth UAH 30 Million: Court Sets Interim Measure for Kyiv Regional Council Member

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, an HACC investigating judge imposed an interim measure on a member of the Kyiv Regional Council suspected of misappropriating assets of the Maiak Research Station of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The court set bail at UAH 990,000.

This likely concerns Oleksandr Poliarush, a Kyiv Regional Council member and deputy mayor of Bila Tserkva. He was also made subject to a number of obligations:

  • appear when summoned by detectives and prosecutors;
  • not leave Kyiv or Kyiv region without permission; 
  • refrain from communicating with persons specified in the court ruling; 
  • surrender international passports and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. 

The Regional Council member is suspected of misappropriating assets of the NAAS Maiak Research Station. His actions were classified under Articles 27(3) and 191(5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to investigators, the suspects were involved in the unlawful appropriation of agricultural products belonging to the state institution.

Another suspect in this case is MP Anatolii Hunko. Overall, the alleged losses to the state amount to UAH 30 million. On February 9, 2026, the HACC Appeals Chamber found Hunko guilty of abuse of influence and sentenced him to 4 years’ imprisonment. He was taken into custody in the courtroom.
