The HACC today convicted the defendants in the abuse-of-office case involving the Odesa Portside Plant. Under the plea agreements, UAH 77.5 million in damages will be repaid to the state, with an additional UAH 50 million directed to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sentences handed down:

Ex-MP Oleksandr Hranovskyi was convicted under Article 344(1) of the Criminal Code (interference with the activities of a public official) and sentenced to a UAH 5,100 fine — the maximum prescribed by that article.

Former OPP department head Ihor Chychylnytskyi and former OPP deputy director Stepan Kiminchidzhi were convicted of willful abuse of office committed by a group of persons in conspiracy, causing grave consequences for state interests. Each was sentenced to three years in prison, a one-year ban from public office, and a fine.

Both were released from serving their sentences due to expired statutes of limitations.

Newscope Estates Limited owner Pavlo Chumak and former OPP board member Olha Tkachenko were convicted of organizing abuse of office committed by a group of persons in conspiracy, causing grave consequences for state interests. Each was sentenced to three years in prison, a one-year ban from holding positions in the management bodies of state-owned enterprises, and a UAH 17,000 fine. Under the approved plea agreements, both were released from serving the custodial portion of their sentences and placed on a two-year probation term.

The civil claim filed by Odesa Portside Plant JSC against the defendants was left without consideration.
The SAPO notes that several defendants, including Hranovskyi himself, are abroad in countries that have declined to extradite them for criminal prosecution.
