On May 19, 2026, the NABU and the SAPO served suspicion notices on three sitting Supreme Court judges and one retired judge.
According to the investigation, the judges accepted unlawful benefits in exchange for ruling in the interests of Finance and Credit Group owner Kostiantyn Zhevaho — the oligarch suspected of bribing former Supreme Court Chairman Vsevolod Kniaziev.
The bribe concerned a dispute in which former shareholders challenged Zhevaho's acquisition of 40.19% of shares in the Poltava Mining and Processing Plant. The first-instance court dismissed the claim, but the appellate court overturned that ruling. Given the complexity of the case, the cassation review was conducted by judges of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court.
In May 2023, NABU detectives exposed former Supreme Court Chairman Vsevolod Kniaziev for accepting a $2.7 million bribe. According to the investigation, Kniaziev — in collusion with notary Kyrylo Horburov and lawyer Oleh Horetskyi — organized a scheme for receiving bribes in exchange for favorable court decisions.
Horetskyi has already entered a plea agreement. Kniaziev's own case is currently before HACC.
