Labaziuk Case: Hearing Details

On April 22, 2026, the HACC concluded the examination of MP Serhii Labaziuk, charged with attempting to bribe former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov and former State Agency for Recovery Head Mustafa Nayyem. The examination lasted over a month.

It bears noting at the outset that as a defendant, Labaziuk bears no criminal liability for giving knowingly false testimony and may use this instrument to defend his position in the case.

Labaziuk again stated that he does not admit guilt. Regarding his communications with the former officials, he said he had given Denys Nazimov only general information about the purpose of the meeting — to restore his company URD to active operations. According to Labaziuk, it was Nayyem who, during a meeting with the company's director, hinted at the need to coordinate "details" with Kubrakov. Kubrakov and Nayyem, he said, did not raise the topic of money with him directly because they knew he would refuse.

Labaziuk characterized the actions of Kubrakov and Nayyem as a "special operation" designed to project the image of "anti-corruption fighters." In response to the prosecutor's final question — who exactly had orchestrated the provocation — the defendant directly named Mustafa Nayyem and Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The court also considered a motion to extend the obligations imposed on defendants Labaziuk and Nazimov. The prosecutor asked for all obligations to be extended for two months, including the surrender of international passports and a ban on leaving Ukraine for 2 more months.

The defense requested a reduction in the list of obligations, arguing that both defendants had been on official trips abroad multiple times during the trial and had always returned on time and complied with all conditions.

The panel partially granted the prosecutor's motion: the defendants must appear when summoned by the court and report any change of residence. However, the court did not extend the remaining obligations, including passport surrender and the travel ban.
