On August 20, 2025, the HACC completed the preparatory proceedings in the case of the head of the AMCU, Pavlo Kyrylenko, concerning illicit enrichment and false asset declaration. The trial on the merits is scheduled for August 28.
The HACC also rejected, among other things, a motion from the defense to change the interim measure. The defense had sought to reduce Kyrylenko’s bail from UAH 25 million to UAH 3 million — more than eight times lower.
According to the defense, the main arguments for the motion were that the risks had significantly decreased, and that Kyrylenko, through his “impeccable” behavior, had demonstrated strict compliance with his procedural obligations. In particular, counsel argued that when these obligations were temporarily lifted, Kyrylenko did not attempt to flee. The defense also emphasized that the seizure of Kyrylenko’s property serves as an “additional guarantee,” a “safeguard” for the state against losses, and reminded the court of the need to return the bail money to the guarantor.
The prosecutor objected, stressing that the property had been seized to secure potential future special confiscation. If Kyrylenko were to evade the court, the proceedings would be suspended, making it impossible to decide on special confiscation.
