On April 16, 2025, the HACC completed preparatory proceedings and began the trial in the case of former Vice Prime Minister Andrii Kliuiev, who is charged with embezzling nearly UAH 200 million from the state budget, along with ex-head of the State Investments Agency, Oleksandr Taran. They face up to 12 years in prison, along with confiscation of property.
The whereabouts of Kliuiev are unknown. According to the investigation, he is evading Ukrainian law enforcement abroad, having fled to Russia, similar to former President Yanukovych. The SAPO received a letter from Azerbaijan, claiming on behalf of Kliuiev that he was in the country. However, the verification did not confirm this claim.
The first preparatory session in this case took place in October 2023. The preparatory proceedings were scheduled to be completed on April 8, but the defense attempted to delay the trial.
