On August 28, 2025, the HACC partially granted the defense’s motion in the high-profile case concerning developer Serhii Kopystyra’s alleged attempt to bribe the former Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration. The court reduced the bail amounts for Kopystyra himself and for another defendant.
Oleh Tatarenko, accused of aiding and abetting, had his bail reduced from UAH 20 million to UAH 19 million. The developer Serhii Kopystyra had his bail cut from UAH 89 million to UAH 60 million. Notably, Kopystyra’s bail had already been reduced twice — first from UAH 100 million to UAH 90 million, and later to UAH 89 million.
Tatarenko’s defense argued that his wife had taken out loans to post the initial bail of UAH 20 million on April 25, 2024, but that the couple had since divorced. As for Kopystyra, the bail of UAH 100 million was deposited into HACC’s account on November 24, 2023.
The court also extended the obligations imposed on Serhii Kopystyra, Oleh Tatarenko, and Alla Sushon — the director of a state-owned enterprise, who is likewise accused of aiding and abetting in the case.
The NABU and the SAPO accuse Kopystyra of attempting to bribe then–Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksandr Kubrakov. According to the investigation, the developer allegedly offered a kickback in the form of 2% of the area of a residential complex planned for construction on land belonging to the Ministry. In exchange, Kubrakov was expected not to terminate contracts between the state-owned enterprise and a company effectively owned by Kopystyra.
