The High Council of Justice dismissed Viktor Hlynianyi, Judge of the Kyiv Appellate Court, who is one of the defendants in the case of receiving a bribe currently under consideration by the HACC.

Viktor Hlynianyi was dismissed for committing a significant disciplinary offense, gross or systematic neglect of duties incompatible with the status of a judge, or for revealing his inconsistency with the position.

As we reported earlier, on November 29, 2023, NABU and SAPO exposed four judges of the Kyiv Appellate Court for accepting bribes amounting to $35,000 in exchange for making the “right” decision. In exchange for this money, the judges were required to lift the arrest on two aircraft in the case of Viacheslav Bohuslaiev, the former head of Motor-Sich, who is accused of treason. The transfer of money took place on November 28. Intermediary judge Viacheslav Ziubin kept $10,000 of the amount for himself and handed over the remaining $25,000 to his colleagues Viktor Hlynianyi, Yurii Slyva, and Ihor Palenyk.

All the defendants in the case are charged under Article 368, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face sentences ranging from 8 to 12 years in prison, with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for 3 years.

On September 20, 2024, NABU and SAPO referred the case to the High Anti-Corruption Court, where it is currently under trial.
