Former MP Maksym Mykytas, accused of misappropriating public funds through contracts for the construction of weapons depots, has had his electronic monitoring bracelet removed. This was reported by journalist Oleh Novikov.

The other obligations imposed on him, such as surrendering his international passports and appearing at the request of investigators, have been extended for another two months. The same obligations have also been extended for Serhii Yakusevych, a former assistant to the MP.

The case will be heard by a panel of judges at the HACC, as requested by the lawyers for Mykytas and Yakusevych.

The SAPO accuses the former MP and ex-head of the construction company Ukrbud, Maksym Mykytas, of embezzling over UAH 307 million from the Ministry of Defense under contracts for the construction of weapons storage facilities. According to the investigation, in 2018, the Ministry signed contracts with companies controlled by Mykytas for the construction of missile and ammunition depots by 2021, totaling approximately UAH 3 billion. The Ministry transferred over UAH 307 million to the account of a company under the MP’s control, but construction never began, and the funds were diverted to other companies’ accounts.

This is the third criminal case involving Maksym Mykytas. In 2019, the NABU notified him of suspicion of misappropriating National Guard property worth over UAH 81 million, and in 2022 he was served a notice of suspicion for offering a €22 million bribe to the mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov.
