The full bail amount for former Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko — UAH 150 million — was posted today, HACC's press service confirmed to Transparency International Ukraine.
The former minister is now to be released from pre-trial detention, subject to other procedural obligations.
Halushchenko — who served as Justice Minister and, for four years before that, Energy Minister — was detained on February 15 at NABU's request while attempting to leave Ukraine. The following day, SAPO served him with a suspicion notice for money laundering and involvement in a criminal organization.
He had remained in pre-trial detention with a bail option of UAH 200 million. On June 12, however, HACC reduced the bail by a quarter.
Halushchenko is suspected of money laundering and participation in Timur Mindich's criminal organization. According to the investigation, the former minister helped the businessman control financial flows in the energy sector in exchange for personal benefits — including the laundering of funds through an offshore fund in Anguilla, with his family registered as beneficiaries. His actions are classified under Articles 255(2) and 209(3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
