Case description

On May 22, 2020, the HACC found Rivne lawyer Yaroslav Morochenets guilty that he, as an accomplice, took a bribe for adopting the necessary decision; the funds were to be transferred to the head of the Volodymyretskyi District Court of Rivne Oblast. The lawyer was fined for this.

How did the crime happen? Morochenets agreed to become an accomplice to the head of the district court in the abuse of influence. Actually, the lawyer first suggested and then received UAH 10,000 of a bribe from a client for the head of the court Leonid Zakrevskyi to influence the investigating judge in the case of illegal deforestation. For this money, the investigating judge was to be asked to lift the seizure from the wood.

Morochenets fully admitted his guilt, and the crime was qualified under Article 27, part 5, Article 369-2, part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court approved the plea agreement and fined the lawyer UAH 25,500.
