Case description
In October 2020, the NABU registered a criminal case involving former prime minister Hroisman and former MP Mykytas. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
According to law enforcement officials, in December 2017, Volodymyr Hroisman, the then Prime Minister of Ukraine, received a particularly large bribe from MP Maksym Mykytas. The alleged purpose was the appointment of Oleksandr Liatambor as the president of the Ukrbud state construction corporation. Hroisman signed the relevant order on September 13, 2017. Liatambor was dismissed in August 2022
According to the NABU, the bribe was provided in the form of property rights to non-residential premises: offices, parking spaces for cars and motorcycles in the residential complex Aristocrat by Ukrbud Development. After the object was put into operation, ownership of the relevant real estate was registered under Volodymyr Hroisman in the State Register of Real Property Rights.
In court, the ex-prime minister's defense counsel indicated that Hroisman was a bona fide purchaser of these real estate objects, that these objects were encumbered (with a mortgage) in accordance with the loan agreements, and the payment of debt obligations under these agreements was carried out, including, from income from renting out real estate.
In December 2020, the HACC seized the property involved in this proceeding and transferred it to the ARMA.
