Case description
On November 10, 2021, the HACC found Serhii Chmyr, Mykolaiv City Council member, guilty of trying to bribe police officers. Based on a plea agreement with the prosecutor, he was fined more than UAH 12,000.
Serhii Chmyr was a member of the Mykolaiv City Council of the 7th convocation. In February 2017, patrol policemen stopped him to check for possible driving under the influence. Chmyr ignored the request to present documents and tried to offer the police a bribe of UAH 1,000 so that they would not draw up a report. Patrol police apprehended Chmyr immediately.
Chmyr pleaded guilty and concluded a plea agreement.
Chmyr's actions were classified under Article 369, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He concluded a plea agreement and was sentenced to a UAH 12,750 fine.
