Stage of criminal proceedings Execution of sentence

On February 10, 2023, the HACC found Yurii Romanenko, an assistant judge of the Odesa Court of Appeal, guilty of promising to bribe a fellow judge to make a favorable decision in a DUI case. He was fined UAH 93,500.

Romanenko, who had been working as a judge's assistant since 2019, acted in collusion with lawyer Anna Beliohlo. She incited her client to bribe Taisiia Tsiura, a judge of the Court of Appeal, to cancel the decision to prosecute him for driving under the influence.

Romanenko was an intermediary in this scheme: in the summer of 2022, he and Beliohlo agreed on a bribe of USD 1,700. He agreed to “help,” allegedly because he had family problems. However, in fact, the assistant did not know judge Tsiura, so he did not exert any influence.

The court classified Romanenko's actions under Article 369-2, part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was fined UAH 93,500.
