Case description
Former MP and developer Maksym Mykytas is accused of attempting to bribe Dnipro Mayor Filatov to sign a metro construction contract with his company without a tender. The amount of the proposed bribe is estimated at a record EUR 22 million.
According to the investigation, in October 2022, former Ukrbud Director Maksym Mykytas offered a bribe to Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov. In exchange for this, Filatov was supposed to influence the conclusion of contracts with companies controlled by Mykytas for the construction of the metro. The former MP promised to provide the funds in installments over the course of the project, by 2027.
Mykytas estimated such actions by Dnipro Mayor at 10% of the project's cost, which is EUR 22 million. The investigation was launched at the request of Filatov. Mykytas is charged under Article 369(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In addition, the former MP is also accused of embezzling UAH 81 million of funds intended for the construction of apartments for the National Guard. In the autumn of 2023, Mykytas was served with another suspicion notice by the NABU in the case of misappropriation of more than UAH 307 million from the Ministry of Defense on contracts for the construction of arms depots.
