The NABU and the SAPO suspect Andrii Klochko of unlawful enrichment amounting to more than UAH 11.3 million through buying assets and partially re-registering them ton relatives.
According to the prosecution, Klochko, the MP of the 9th convocation, acquired a lot of property in the 2020–2021, such as Mercedes-Benz S63 and Tesla Model X cars, land plots, apartments, and a residential house. Property rights to part of Klochko’s assets are registered to relatives, namely to his mother and sister, under the power of attorney.
According to law enforcement officers, the price of acquired property exceeds the lawful income of the MP by more than UAH 11.3 million. During the selection of an interim measure, the defendant explained that he did not have any relation to the real estate, vehicles, and land plots.
According to Klochko, this property was bought by his mother and sister on their own through independently collected money. Klochko collects the money mentioned in the declaration to pay for quality education of his children.
The prosecutor argued Klochko’s relation to the indicated assets through covert investigative actions. Thus, when registering ownership rights to a land plot and the residential house, Klochko’s wife’s phone was near the private notary.
When buying the apartment and non-residential premises in the Apartment Complex Riviera, the phone belonging to Andrii Klochko was near the location, while, the phones of the mother and sister to whom the mentioned assets were registered, were located in another district.
Andrii Klochko’s acts were classified under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. If the charges are proven, he will face up to 10 years of imprisonment.
