Case description
On February 4, 2022, the HACC found Ihor Minayev, a Sloviansk judge, guilty of taking a bribe for not bringing a local to administrative liability. Minayev was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison.
In September 2017, Ihor Minayev, working as a judge of the Sloviansk City District Court in the Donetsk region, offered Andrii Strilets, a local's lawyer, a bribe to not bring the latter to administrative liability for driving under the influence.
Interestingly, at the time, the shooter was also serving a suspended sentence in a case of participation in the armed groups of the “DPR”. Minayev asked for USD 6,000 for his “service” and was detained by law enforcement officers immediately after receiving the money.
Minayev's actions were classified under Article 368, part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison with confiscation of all his property and deprivation of the right to hold judicial office for 3 years.
