Case description
The HACC found judge Lala Novik from Dnipro guilty of receiving a bribe for adopting a decision in the interests of others. She was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
According to the case materials, Lala Novik, a judge of the Dnipro District Court of Dnipropetrovsk oblast, received a bribe of USD 2,500 for making a decision in the interests of an individual in a civil case. Novik was suspended from administering justice.
The crime was qualified under Article 368, part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The judges imposed a sentence of a 5-year imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold the position of judge for three years and confiscation of part of her property—a Skoda Octavia car and a land plot. Novik may appeal the court decision in the appellate instance.
